Synopsis
A determined young girl, Savita, yearns for education and a bright future. However, as her farmer parents anxiously struggle to find a suitable match for her, societal expectations place immense pressure on her to prioritize marriage over personal aspirations. Facing countless rejections from suitors, she must navigate a world where the pursuit of marriage overshadows the very sustenance of life. Shot with non-actors from the village, STHAL (A MATCH) is the director's debut feature film.

Director's Biography
JAYANT DIGAMBAR SOMALKAR
Jayant Digambar Somalkar, an engineering graduate with a creative flair for filmmaking, began as an assistant in TV ads and corporate films before venturing into writing for popular TV comedy and kid's animation shows. His debut short film, IYATTA-CLASS, garnered acclaim at national and international festivals, winning several awards. Co-writing and co-directing the Amazon Prime series GUILTY MINDS, recognized as one of the best Indian series of 2022, marked a significant milestone. Jayant's debut Marathi feature film, STHAL: A MATCH, which he wrote, directed, and co-produced, premiered at the 48th Toronto International Film Festival, securing the NETPAC award for the best Asian film.
