Synopsis

A Palestinian school teacher struggles to reconcile his life-threatening commitment to political resistance with his emotional support for one of his students and the chance of a new romantic relationship with a British volunteer worker.

FARAH NABULSI

Farah Nabulsis is a British filmmaker. THE PRESENT, her directorial debut, which she also co-wrote and produced, premiered at the Clermont-Ferrand ISFF in 2020. She won the coveted Audience Award for Best Film. It went on to win over 50 International Film Festival Jury and Audience Awards, a BAFTA award, and an Oscar nomination. Nabulsi has been invited to serve as a jury member at numerous festivals and as a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. THE TEACHER is Farah’s directorial debut fiction feature-length film.
