Synopsis

Ber is a poignant Kodava drama that delves into the intricate dynamics of a father-daughter relationship, exploring themes of tradition, cultural identity, and the challenges of generational gaps. The film revolves around the life of a retired professor who is committed to upholding and preserving the traditions, rituals, and values of the Kodava culture. While the father hopes that his daughter will carry the baton of his cultural heritage, she grows up in a changing world and finds herself drawn to different ideals, creating a rift between them, and straining their once close-knit bond.

PRAKASH KARIAPPA K

Kottukattira Prakash Kariappa is an Actor, Director, Writer, Producer, Novelist, and ex-serviceman. Originally from Kodagu in Karnataka, he is presently located in Madikeri. With a deep-rooted passion for fostering talent within the film industry and promoting awareness about Kodava and Kannada Language and Culture, Kariappa has made significant contributions. His directorial debut, ASHRAYA DHAAMA garnered the distinction of Best Children’s Film by the Karnataka Government. Following this success, MAKKALA TEERPU marked his second film in the Kannada Language. Notably, his film KODGRA SIPAYI (Kodava) was showcased at KIFF and BIFFE’s, while NADA PEDA ASHA and INCREDIBLE COORG received screenings at KIFF. Among his recent works is the Kodava film titled BER – THE ROOT.
